EcotourismResearch.org is a gateway to the world of ecotourism praxis.  Praxis is the coming together of theory and practice; where theory informs practice and practice informs theory via a never ending learning feedback loop.  Our aim is to report on, catalyse and otherwise stimulate an ongoing web-based interactive dialogue on all matters related to the territory of ecotourism.  EcotourismResearch is intended to be a direct implementation of the potential and capacity of Web 2.0: an interactive space where ideas are promulgated and developed through completely open interaction.  You could call this a living learning laboratory of ecotourism thinking and activity. 

EcotourismResearch is a component of Environmental Gateway .  It is intended this these two spaces will blend and blur; with each being one part of an integrated whole.  EnvironmentalGateway provides this ecotourism-focused space as just one door through which to enter the interactive world of collaborative environmental thinking and practice; of genuinely collaborative environmental praxis.  The aim is the same for all EnvironmentalGateway spaces: to break down the artificial, pre-interactive internet 'bad old days' of ivory tower research and related academia and behind-closed-doors policy making and bring the whole lot out into the open spaces of web-based open engagement and collaboration.  Old habits die hard and slowly.  We forsee a near future when open collaboration and sharing will underpin all research and practitioner activity. We offer these web spaces as a catalyst towards this future.
